Privacy

GlanceDock has no app usage telemetry and verifies licenses on your own machine. The website stores information needed for accounts, licenses, support, and security. Using a website account is optional; the desktop app does not require one.

What we store when you buy

When you purchase a license, the order record includes:

  • your name,
  • your email,
  • your license key id,
  • your license tier (founder or standard),
  • a Paddle order reference for the transaction.

We use these only to issue and support your license, nothing else. There is no data about your machine or how you use the app, because the app sends us none.

License issuance and account linking

License records include the recipient's name, an email address when supplied, the key identifier, tier, status, and any linked website account. We store full keys issued through our admin area or linked to an account so they can be recovered. Complimentary issuance also records its purpose (owner, promotion, or testing), issuing administrator, and date. Linking a key on this website sends it to our server; entering it in the desktop app does not.

What Paddle handles

Payments are processed by Paddle as the Merchant of Record. Paddle collects and processes your payment details as the seller of record. We never see or store your card numbers. Paddle's own privacy policy governs the payment data it handles.

The desktop app

  • No telemetry from the app. GlanceDock collects no usage analytics of any kind.
  • Offline license verification. Entering or checking a license does not send your key to a server. There is no online activation requirement.
  • Network connections for features and updates. Widgets connect to the services they use, such as your mail server, homelab, weather provider, or YouTube. Packaged builds also check GitHub for app updates after startup and periodically. Those services receive the network requests, including your IP address, under their own privacy policies. Update checks are separate from license verification.

This website

  • No tracking cookies. No advertising, no trackers, no third-party analytics, and nothing stored in your browser for measurement.
  • Self-hosted fonts and assets. We do not load third-party analytics or remote fonts. Following an external link takes you to that service.
  • Anonymous page-visit counts. For each page we keep one running total per calendar day — for example, /pricing, 2026-07-25, 143. That is the whole visit-counter record. These counters do not store IP addresses, browser or device details, referrers, locations, or any visitor or session identifier, and no JavaScript runs in your browser for this. Because there is one shared counter per page per day rather than a row per visit, two different people and one person reloading twice are indistinguishable to us by design, not by promise. It exists so we can tell whether anyone reaches the pricing page; it cannot tell us anything about you.

Accounts and security

Website accounts store your email address, display name, account status, and preferences. Signing in uses an essential session cookie to keep you authenticated; it is not used for advertising or visit measurement. Roadmap posts, comments, votes, and reports are stored when you submit them. Public posts and comments show your display name.

Security and administrative audit records can include the account or actor, action, affected record, time, IP address, and action details. Sign-in rate limits also use IP addresses and email addresses to prevent abuse. Daily cleanup removes sign-in throttle buckets once they are older than two days and sign-in request audit records once they are older than 90 days. These records are separate from the anonymous visit counters and are used to operate and protect the website.

Messages

If you message us through your account, those on-site messages are stored privately, visible only to you and the developer, never to other users. They are deleted on an account-deletion request.
